It takes some some courage to think about contacting a professional therapist and counselor. Feeling ready for just the right time to do it could take awhile. Usually people begin to feel better when they make an appointment. You may have several questions for the therapist to help decide if counseling would benefit you or you may just want to get started immediately. Some people have already had therapy or counseling in the past and want to get help with something that is occurring right now and know that talking about important concerns helps. Just talking through your feelings, thoughts, ideas with a psychotherapist who has training and education, experience and expertise to understand what you are going through can very valuable. I sincerely want to help others. Suffering and pain are very hard to live with. I hope you look at the information here and decide to make an appointment. I have 20 years of experience working with many people and I believe their lives have been changed and clients have become much happier.
I provide counseling and therapy for Individuals, Relationships (couples, marital, engaged), Adolescents and Families.
Often we can feel we are not quite where we want to be in life and are struggling with our problems, trying to fix them ourselves, or turning friends or family and that doesn't seem to help as much as we hoped. Shouldn't I be able to do this myself? Finding an objective, neutral, trained and experienced therapist to talk with can be of great value. Just opening up to another person in confidence about your thoughts, feelings, ideas and problems can offer much relief.
Indications that you could use or need individual therapy can be that you feel sad, depressed, negative, hopeless. Men and women can experience depression in similar ways: a change in mood, disinterest in activities that were enjoyable before, disruptions in energy and appetite and sleep. However, men are more likely to try to cope with feelings, including depression, by using alcohol, drugs or express their feelings by lashing out at others or putting themselves in dangerous situations. Talking through what is troubling us can be very valuable. Suffering with great anxiety (stress, fears, obsessions) can be a sign that a person needs therapy and other options. Problems with addictions to alcohol or drugs, or eating disorders are a sign of needing some help. Relationship problems can be extremely distressing for people.
